International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers

The eleventh annual International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers is December 17 – and programs throughout the country are bringing new resources and activities to you. Many of these are open to all genders and workers into industry.

HOOK is offering it’s first class involving self-defense techniques for men in the sex industry on December 19 from 7:30-9:30 in downtown Manhattan called Setting Boundaries with Simple Self-Defense. Led by experienced martial arts professionals and instructors, the course is designed to provide you insights on how to de-escalate potentially difficult situations and get basic skills in exiting a potentially risky situation. Do you not feel safe with clients? Are you afraid of transphobic violence? Are you a social worker or resource provider for folks in the sex trades?
Center for Anti-Violence Education and Red Umbrella Project are proud to present a FREE hour and a half drop-in workshop on self-defense and anti-violence dealing with the issues of those in the sex trades hosted by the Brooklyn Community Pride Center (BCPC).

Building Resilience Together: A Sex Worker Self-Care Day

On Sunday, December 15, Sex Workers Action New York is hosting a day of self care specifically for those impacted by the sex trade. we will be sharing strategies, learning new tools, and sharing in the strength of our community in a sex worker-only space.

We welcome sex work communities, allies, advocates, friends and family to celebrate the memories of those we have lost, and sharing in the strength and resilience of those involved with or impacted by the sex trade. We take this solemn day every year to come together as a singular voice, and re-commit ourselves in the struggle to fight for the rights and dignity to which all are entitled.
